Senator John Kerry meeting with Pakistan's key officials.
Senator John Kerry, Chairman US Foreign Affairs Committee, on Monday gave Pakistan a personal guarantee that the United States had no designs against Pakistan’s nuclear assets and agreed that the two sides will work together in any future operations against high-value al-Qaeda targets in Pakistan. Kerry also stated that it was important to press the ‘reset button’ on the US-Pakistan relations and use this opportunity to put the relations back on track.
Kerry’s remarks are clearly calibrated to assuage the immensely high anti-US sentiment in Pakistan caused by the post Osama killing behaviour of top US functionaries in general and CIA chief, Leon Panetta, in particular.
